Receiving help from someone who understands your heritage can make all the difference. Explore these multicultural programs:

Latino

C.L.U.E.S.
Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio (CLUES) provides behavioral health and human services to the Twin Cities Latino community. Find Spanish-speaking counselors, and support for chemical addictions. Take free ESL and literacy courses, as well as a basic computer skills course.

La Oportunidad
The Latino Youth Program of La Oportunidad hosts weekly teen group sessions, year-round truancy prevention groups, a mentorship program, a leadership program and summer activities. Through Embajadores Latinos Leadership Program, teens can participate in the Annual Latino Youth Peace Conference

American Indian

GINEW/Golden Eagles
This year-round after-school program serves American Indian youth ages 5-18. Participants receive homework help and tutoring, and can enroll in a summer reading program. Challenge to Achieve is a program that offers monetary rewards in exchange for good grades and school attendance.

Minneapolis American Indian Center
MAIC is a comprehensive resource center located in the heart of the Minneapolis Indian community. Offerings include employment assistance, the Healthy Nations Program, native art and crafts, Tuesday-night AA meetings and more.

MIGIZI Communications
Every year, MIGIZI offers three scholarships to American Indian undergraduate students. The center, located on East Lake Street in Minneapolis, is home to the Running Wolf Fitness Center.

Asian American

Asian Media Access
This nonprofit organization promotes Asian art and culture through multimedia. There are lots of ways for Asian young people to get involved: film festivals, TV programs, radio shows and a multimedia blog.

Hmong American Partnership (HAP)
Based in St. Paul, HAP provides Hmong and other refugee communities with services and support to ease the adjustment to life in Minnesota. The YouthLEAD program offers youth ages 14-21 job training and college preparation classes.
